Over night Camp

from $550.00

This is more than a ride — it’s an experience that grounds you, stretches you, and reconnects you with the land, your breath, and your wairua. Our Overnight Horse Camp is for those ready to step away from the noise of the everyday and return to something real.

You’ll begin your journey with a 3-hour ride upriver, weaving through the native bush and along the awa, guided by the rhythm of your horse and the natural beauty of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui. Your gear and food are provided — you just need to come prepared with a good attitude, strong legs, and a willingness to feel a little saddle sore (it’s part of the magic).

As the day settles, you’ll arrive at our hidden camp — a peaceful spot surrounded by ngahere, where platters and cool beverages welcome you. Take your time. Explore. Walk to the nearby waterfall, breathe in the forest air, and let the stillness do its work.

As night falls, we gather around the fire with a hot meal (think steak, kai Māori and cowboy feeds) and good company. Some moments are for sharing stories, others for quiet reflection. Either way, there’s mana in the space we hold together.

You’ll sleep in rustic camp style under the stars, waking to a true cowboy breakfast — bacon, eggs, beans and a strong brew. Then it’s time to saddle up, ride over the hills, and return down the river with a new kind of clarity.

This experience is best suited for confident riders or physically fit beginners — if you haven’t ridden in a while, you’ll definitely feel it. But it’s worth every ache. You’ll return lighter, clearer, and more connected — to yourself, your horse, and the whenua beneath you.

Standfast – Terms of Service & Booking Policy

Please read the following terms carefully before booking any trek, camp, or therapy session with us. By confirming your booking, you agree to the following:

    1. Safety & Personal Responsibility

Horse riding, trekking, and working with animals come with inherent risks. While our team takes every reasonable step to ensure your safety — including matching horses to rider ability and offering guidance throughout your session — you ride and participate at your own risk.

If you fall, get injured, or are unable to complete your ride for any reason, Standfast accepts no liability for personal injury, damage, or loss. We strongly recommend that all participants wear helmets and follow the instructions of our team at all times.

If you choose not to follow our safety guidelines or ride outside of your own physical ability or experience level, you do so at your own risk.

    2. Weight & Health Limitations

Please advise us of any medical conditions when booking. For the wellbeing of our horses, we have a strict weight limit of 90kg — riders above this limit must contact us prior to booking so we can assess availability and suitability of horses.

    3. Age Limit

Our treks are open to riders aged 13 years and up. Children under 13 may participate in paddock rides or lessons but cannot join guided treks or camps.

    4. Refund & Rebooking Policy

We do not offer refunds under any circumstances. However, we understand life happens — so if you’re unable to attend your booked session or trek, you’re welcome to reschedule to another date (subject to availability). Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to move your booking.

No-shows without communication will not be rebooked.

    5. Weather Conditions

We ride in most weather conditions, unless it’s unsafe (e.g., lightning storms, severe flooding). In such cases, your session or trek will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

    6. Gift Vouchers

Standfast Gift Vouchers are non-refundable and non-transferable for cash. They can be used toward any Standfast service or product online and may be gifted to another person.

    7. Behaviour & Respect

We expect all guests to treat our team, horses, whenua and each other with respect. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in your session ending early — and you will not be refunded.
